When the 19th century arrived, a new medium did too. Trading cards were generally produced during the Victorian Era and are quite similar to modern day flyers. These ads were given by various merchants to pedestrians, who in turn kept them in scrapbooks since they were fascinated by the new trend of colored promotions. Businesses ranging from groceries to seed merchants were featured on the cards, which was generally composed of a picture on the front and informational text about the profession on the back.
